The Significant Oil and Gas Fields of the United States Database is available for your use in two ways:

  1. with a database license from Nehring Associates; or,
  2. through our Basin and Play Evaluation Service.

LICENSING THE DATABASE

Licensing the database is the cost-effective choice for those who use the database repeatedly, conduct systematic intensive studies of entire basins or regions, or analyze large numbers of fields and/or reservoirs. Database licensees may be national, regional or multi-regional, or may be limited to individual basins (provinces) or states/districts.

Each database licensee receives the following set of information and tools for analysis:

  • All the current data for the areas they license in both ACCESS (all field, reservoir, master, and library tables) and EXCEL (the master and library tables only) formats. (The complete database is also available on request in ASCII comma-delimited files.)

All licensees of the Gulf of Mexico region also receive four supplementary tables providing monthly OCS production data by completion interval, a listing of all OCS completion intervals by field name, API well code, and sand body, a table cross- referencing each field and sand body to the MMS play codes, and a table tying the MMS reservoirs to the database reservoirs.

  • Tools for Analysis

    • The KnowNow retrieval system (32-bit or 64 bit),
    • The NRG Help System,
    • The ACCESS field and reservoir retrieval macro, and
    • The national versions of the Field Cross-Reference Table, the Play Characteristics Table, the Geologic Cross-Reference Table, and the Formation Table.

Nehring Associates also provides each licensee with personal instruction in the uses of the database.

Two pricing options are available for new licensees of the database. New licensees may sign a one-time agreement, paying only for the current version of the database and licensing subsequent updates at their option, or they may agree to a three-year license, paying a substantially lower price for each year’s delivery. For the current prices of each licensing option by region, the most common combinations of regions, and the national version of the database, view our current price schedule HERE.

BASIN AND PLAY EVALUATION SERVICE

The Basin and Play Evaluation Service offers a convenient, objective, economical, and quick source of information for strategic decisions. It enables our customers to use our extensive experience in upstream evaluation and our detailed knowledge of play, field, and reservoir data and thereby avoid becoming bogged down in the intricacies of data collection, validation, retrieval, and manipulation at the expense of the decisions they want and need to make.

Using our Basin and Play Evaluation Service is the cost-effective choice for those who only need the database for one-time uses (such as play reconnaissance) or who need only a highly limited set of data. Database licensees may also use the Basin and Play Evaluation Service to take advantage of our experience in analyzing quickly the data they have licensed.

The primary focus of the Basin and Play Evaluation Service is to provide information by play, groups of plays (such as regional productive trends or chronostratigraphic units), or by basin. Customers can also obtain groups of field and reservoirs selected by such categories as size (for example, the fifty largest fields), period of discovery (for example, all discoveries in the past ten years), or geographic area (for example, all reservoirs in A, B, and C counties).

All of the building blocks for analysis are available from Nehring Associates through the Basin and Play Evaluation Service:

  • Size Distributions by Field, Reservoir, or Play
  • Recent Recovery Growth by Field, Reservoir, or Play
  • Distributions of Reservoir Rock and Fluid Characteristics
  • Production Histories by Field, Reservoir, or Play
  • Discovery Histories by Field or Reservoir
  • Development Intensity and Economics
